Vilnius, Lithuania - The remaining four U.S. wrestlers at the 2005 FILA Junior Greco-Roman World Championships struggled on Sunday, as none of them were in medal contention. Two wrestlers won one match on the day - Dallas Seavey (Sterling, Alaska) at 60 kg/132 lbs. and Andy Bisek (Chaska, Minn./USOEC) at 74 kg/163 lbs. Seavey defeated his first-round opponent, Mathias Maasch of Germany, 5-1, 3-1 before losing in the second round to Vahab Dahneswar of Sweden, 0-6, 0-6. Bisek pinned In-Soo Yang of Korea in the second period, but dropped a decision to Plamen Palev of Bulgaria after he was disqualified for his third caution. Also competing for the U.S. on Sunday were Gabe Burak (Colorado Springs, Colo./USOTC) at 50 kg/110 lbs. and Robert Smith (San Ramon, Calif./CYC-Concord) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Burak lost in the first round to eventual gold medalist Elbek Toyiev of Uzbekistan, 0-7, 0-10. Toyiev won by technical fall in every period he wrestled in the tournament. Burak then lost in the consolation first round to Ventislav Krumov of Bulgaria, 0-3, 0-7. Smith lost his first match to Van Duc Nguyen of Vietnam in the third period after being disqualified for his third caution. "We had a young team out here, and the kids we wrestled just had a lot more experience in Greco-Roman wrestling," U.S. coach Ike Anderson said. "No team in this tournament, including Russia, came home with more than three medals, which tells you the depth of the field here."
