The former USA Wrestling Member's Only website has been redesigned and reformatted into TheMat.com's new Audio/Video website, an exciting upgrade that will better serve the wrestling community and provides cutting-edge technology. TheMat.com's Audio/Video website can be accessed by clicking the Audio/Video link at the top of the page next to the Message Boards link. This new area of TheMat.com contains the same popular features at the Members-Only website, such as the Bout of the Week videos, the Palestra Technique Archive, downloadable Wallpapers, and the Rulebook. Those who have enjoyed these features will continue to receive them on a regular basis However, the new site has been enhanced to include a searchable archive of all video clips, a Broadcast Schedule section detailing all wrestling coverage on television and the internet, plus chat rooms, and a personal playlist that includes your favorite video files. While many of the features of the site will be available for everyone to use, the video clips will be accessible only to current members of USA Wrestling. To view the videos on this site, you must be logged into your TheMat.com passport account, which also must include your USA Wrestling Membership number. This is the same account used for TheMat.com Message Boards. If you already have a Passport Account, make sure you are logged in and that your profile includes your USA Wrestling Membership Number. If you are a member and have not already registered for your online account, click the "Get Passport Account" at the top of the page. If you have an account and are not a current member of USA Wrestling, you will find a link to "Join USA Wrestling" on the Edit Passport Profile page. Any webcast that USA Wrestling produces will be accessible through this section of the website. This will include audio and video coverage of many of the most important wrestling events in the nation. The next broadcast posted in TheMat.com audio/video website will be audio coverage from the Las Vegas/ASICS 2005 U.S. National Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, April 28-30. This audio broadcast is part of a partnership with Takedown Radio, a nationally respected internet wrestling broadcaster. This special coverage will feature hours of audio coverage of the event, as well as interviews with athletes, coaches, and other wrestling personalities. Scott Casber and Chris Chickering will serve as the announcers for the weekend. Also held during the week are the FILA Junior Nationals, as well as the Western Junior Regionals. The broadcast is accessible through the new section of TheMat.com, and will be available to all users (members and non-members). The audio and video in this section are in a variety of formats, including Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, and Quicktime formats. If you do not currently have one of these players, you will find helpful links under the player windows for downloading and installing these free players. Due to the nature of video online, a high-speed Internet connection, such as Cable or DSL, is necessary to view videos. To kick off the new Audio/Video section of TheMat.com is the latest Bout of the Week, which features the 1999 Freestyle World Team Trials championship series between Terry Brands and Eric Guerrero at 58 kg/127.75 pounds. Both matches of this series are posted for your enjoyment. Brands was named in recent days as the new USA Wrestling National Freestyle Resident Coach, and will begin his duties with the freestyle program this month. This section of the website will continue to be enhanced, with plans for additional archived video from events, as well as live audio and video broadcasts. We invite all users of TheMat.com to visit this new section and tune in for the broadcast from the U.S. Nationals next week.
