The best amateur wrestlers in the nation will be showcased at the Las Vegas/ASICS United States National Wrestling Championships set for April 29-30 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Top-caliber wrestlers will compete for national titles and All-American honors in the three Olympic styles: men's freestyle, women's freestyle and men's Greco-Roman. The top seven place winners at this event qualify for the 2005 Senior World Team Trials in Ames, Iowa, June 17-19, 2005. Outstanding Wrestlers at the 2004 National Championships were Lee Fullhart (Gator WC), 84 kg/185 lbs., Dremiel Byers, Colorado Springs, Colo. (U.S. Army), 120 kg/264.5 lbs. and Kristie Marano, Colorado Springs, Colo. (New York AC), 63 kg/138.75 lbs. The Las Vegas/ASICS United States National Wrestling Championships will be held alongside the 2005 FILA Junior National Championships and the 2005 Western Junior Regionals. The Men's FILA Junior National Championships feature the nation's most talented athletes who are 17-20 years old, and includes both freestyle and Greco-Roman. The Western Junior Regionals features the top high school wrestlers in the region and the nation, competing in freestyle and Greco-Roman. This is annually the largest of the Junior Regional events and features a very strong field of competitors. A new procedure designed to improve the competition has been instituted this year for the National Championships, as well as the Junior National Championships and the Western Junior Regional Championships. There is MANDATORY online pre-registration required of all participants for this important national championship event. This is the first year that online pre-registration is being implemented for the tournaments and there are not exceptions to these procedures.
