Fekete wins bronze medal at Medved International, as USA harvests six medals

Nik Fekete (Blacksburg, Va./Sunkist Kids) claimed a bronze medal at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. on the final day of the Medved International, held in Minsk, Belarus, March 27.    Fekete had a 3-1 record during the tournament. He defeated Mastenpanov of Belarus, 3-1, 7-0 for the bronze medal.    Fekete opened with victories over Shemarov of Belarus and Akhmedov of Russia. In the semifinals, he lost a close controversial bout to Shemarov of Russia, 1-0, 3-3.    "Fekete looked great," said National Women's Coach Terry Steiner. "He had a lot of motion and had some great scoring. He wrestled a really good tournament."    The only U.S. woman in the field on Sunday, Kaci Lyle (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) did not earn a medal at 63 kg/138.75 lbs.    Fekete's bronze medal brought the number of U.S. medals for the tournament up to six.    In men's freestyle, the medallists were:  * Sammie Henson (St. Louis, Mo./Sunkist Kids), gold at 55 kg/121 lbs.  * Nik Fekete (Blacksburg, Va./Sunkist Kids), bronze at 96 kg/211.5 lbs.    In women's freestyle, the medalists were:  * Katie Kunimoto (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC), bronze at 48 kg/105.5 lbs.  * Stephanie Murata (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids), silver at 55 kg/121 lbs.  * Marcie Van Dusen (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids), bronze at 55 kg/121 lbs.  * Sally Roberts (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC), bronze at 59 kg/130 lbs.
