TheMat.com, the official web page of USA Wrestling and one of the most active amateur sports sites on the internet, is seeking dedicated and responsible volunteer moderators for their popular message boards.    The message boards are an online area where the wrestling community can post thoughts and share ideas on a variety of topics. TheMat.com's message boards can be found from a link at its home page or reached directly at www.thematforums.com    The moderators would be asked to monitor specific sections on the message boards, and work with USA Wrestling's staff to help edit or eliminate postings that break the rules of the boards.    The rules of the message boards are: 1) No soliciting or advertising; 2) No personal attacks; 3) No swearing; 4) No threatening, abusive, intolerant or prejudicial language    The message boards are moderated under the following philosophy: "The purpose of TheMat.com message boards is to provide the wrestling community a forum for their ideas and facilitate interest in wrestling topics. The overall goal is to have fun with the sport."    USA Wrestling is seeking individuals who have an active passion for wrestling, and can document their involvement in the sport. They need to be mature and responsible people who take pride in helping the bulletin boards serve as a fun and interesting forum of ideas. They also need to have enough time to devote to the project in order to be a strong support for the staff members assigned to the message boards.    Each of the volunteer moderators will also be asked to serve on an ad-hoc advisory committee, that will meet periodically via conference call to consult with USA Wrestling concerning its internet presence. This committee will be asked to provide input about the message boards, as well as suggestions concerning the content, presentation and direction of the entire TheMat.com web page.    To be considered for a volunteer moderator position, an individual must provide the following information:  1. Name, address, phone number, email address  2. Current "user name" on TheMat.com forums  3. Detailed history of involvement in wrestling at all levels  4. Individuals who would be references on the character of the applicant. The selection of qualified volunteer moderators is another step forward towards achieving this objective.
