At 133, top-ranked Juergens was in solid control, scoing on spin-behind takedowns and opening up for a 12-4 major decision. At 141, top ranked Schwab pinned backup-up Lofton, who wrestled for No. 2 Michael Lightner . At 149, Zadick scored the early takedowns. Frayer tilted him in the final seconds but did not receive any backpoints, so Zadick scored a 4-3 win. Top ranked Williams got his offense rolling as the match went on at 157 pounds, earning a 13-5 major decision. Oklahoma finally broke through at 165 pounds, with Waller earning the early takedown and riding with dominance in a 7-4 win over Matt Anderson. Oklahoma won the next bout also at 174, as riding time was the difference in Barger's 3-2 win over Nixt. Iowa's final win came at 184, where Smith needed a late takedown and riding time for a tight 7-6 win. Iowa decided not to send athletes out for the last two matches, with the win already secured, giving up 12 points without a contest. Iowa Head Coach Jim Zalesky: "We wrestled well. At 149, Kulczycki showed the best skills, but Weingarder kept coming on, keeping the match close with the final score, 12-8. At 157 pounds, Cole Sanderson showed consistency in all positions, with a 5-2 win over Mark Churella, son of Hall of Famer Mark Churella. At 165, top ranked Heskett was in total control, finishing up with a powerful 14-3 major decision. At 174 pounds, top ranked Olson of Michigan controlled the bout early, but a late Parks takedown made it a razor-close 6-5 win. Top ranked Cael Sanderson quickly took down and pinned Hrovat in 38 seconds at 184 pounds, blowing open the team race. At 197, Thompson won a typical 3-2 conservative match for the final ISU win. Brink of Michigan received a forfeit at heavyweight. Iowa State head coach Bobby Douglas - "Michigan is a tough team. They matched up real well. It was a dogfight.
