2004 Olympic bronze medalist Patricia Miranda (New Haven, Conn./Dave Schultz WC) will be featured on the Dr. Phil Show on Tuesday, December 7. Check your local listings for time and channel. Miranda participated in the show via telephone following a request from the Dr. Phil Show staff. Miranda speaks on the benefits of competing on a men's wrestling team in both high school and college to a girl in North Carolina who wanted to compete on her high school's men's wrestling team, but her mother did not feel it was appropriate. Produced by Paramount Domestic Television in partnership with Harpo Productions and King World Productions, the hit series draws on Dr. Phil's 30 years of experience in psychology and human functioning. Having begun his TV career as Oprah's resident expert on human behavior, Dr. Phil continues to deal with real-life issues in his signature "tell-it-like-it-is" style. It was the first time that women's wrestling had been featured at the Olympic Games. Before the Olympics, she established herself as one of the top women's wrestlers in the world, winning two World silver medals (2000 and 2003) and also capturing a gold medal at the 2003 World Cup. In college, she was a member of the varsity men's wrestling team at Stanford Univ. where she started during her senior season. She also competed on the varsity men's wrestling team at Saratoga High School in Saratoga, Calif. She currently attends Yale Univ. where she is studying law and also spends time working out with Yale's club wrestling team.
