Ellegood named graduate assistant coach at Fort Hays State

Former Fort Hays State University standout wrestler Myron Ellegood was recently selected to  be the graduate assistant for the Tiger wrestling program. Ellegood comes to FHSU after coaching stints at Trego Community High School and Hays High School. He was the head wrestling coach at TCHS during the 1999-2000 season. in 1998-99 he was a member of the assistant coaching staff at HHS which was named the 5A assistant coaching staff of the year.    A two-time All-American while at FHSU, Ellegood compile a 114-43 record in three seasons of competing for the Tigers. Ellegood compiled a career high 43 wins during the 1996-97 season in route to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA II Championships. In 1997-98 he was 39-10 and was Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champion. West Regional Champion and runner-up at the NCAA II Championships. Ellegood holds both the two-point and three-point season nearfall records at FHSU.    A native of Garden City, Kan., Ellegood competed at Garden City Community College foe one year and was member of the team that won the National Junior COllege Athletic Association Wrestling Championships in the 1994-1995 season.    "Myron will do an excellent job,"' head wrestling coach Bob Smith said. "He relates with the wrestlers well and is ready to pursue his master's degree in sports administration. Myron will bring a lot to the program both as a former wrestler and as a coach."
