Wrestling Canada hires Melissa Jones as Domestic Development Manager

The Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association is pleased to announce that it has filled the position of Domestic Development Manager with the hiring of Melissa Jones of Ottawa.    Melissa is currently the Technical Director with Ringette Canada with responsibilities for athlete, coach and officials development. She is also responsible for guiding the transition from the current coaching certification program to the Competency Based Education & Training (CBET) model, coordinating all technical aspects related to the National Championships, organizing and executing the development and administration of the national team program for international competition, and developing and implementing participatory athlete development programs.    Prior to her position with Ringette Canada, Melissa served as the Executive Director of the Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club for a period of two years.    She is an active athlete with the Ottawa Rowing Club and maintains a volunteer role with the Ottawa Lions club.    In her new role with Wrestling Canada she will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of specific elements of the CAWA domestic development sport system. This entails administering a comprehensive development system which includes; athlete development up to and including the junior age group, coaching development and education, domestic and international event support, participation program delivery and policy development.    Melissa will take up her duties with Wrestling Canada as of January 3, 2005 in the National Office in Ottawa.
