The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Board of Governors is happy to announce that the following nine men will receive the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award" for Kansas. This award is given annually to coaches, officials or contributors who have given a lifetime of service to wrestling, their communities and most importantly to the young people they have coached, taught, motivated and inspired. Fritz McGinniss will represent the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and will present the awards. The Class of 2004 Kansas Honorees Lawrence G. Alley - Contributor (Douglas Kids Wrestling Club - Founding Father) Thomas F. Faust - Contributor (Derby Kids Club - Founding Father) The Late Francis J. Hagan, M.D. - Contributor (Founding Father) Bill P. Stanhope - Coach - Official - Contributor (Colwich Kids Wrestling Club - Founding Father) The Late Antoine N. Bontz III - Contributor (Wichita Wrestling Club) Gus Garcia - Coach - Atwood High School, Augusta High School, Augusta Kids Club C. Dee Gard - Coach & Official - Wichita Heights C. Duwane Miller - Coach - Douglass Kapaun Mt. Carmel Lyle W. Neville - Coach - Hutchinson High School The "Outstanding American from the State of Kansas" will be presented to Patrick W. Miller who wrestled for Valley Central High School in 1998 and recently was awarded the Silver Star for his heroic actions in Iraq. The second class for Kansas will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at The Best Western Wichita North/Park City.
