The Long Island Wrestling Association (LIWA) has announced that they will help fund the future training towards the Olympic Games for 2004 NCAA champion Jesse Jantzen, who captured an NCAA individual title for Harvard. Jantzen will move to Hempstead, N.Y., where he has also applied for the position of Volunteer Assistant Coach at Hofstra University. Jantzen is expected to be named to the position within the next week. Jantzen will train with Hofstra assistant coach Donny Pritzlaff. "Known as New York State's greatest wrestler, Jesse brings a lot more to the table than his wrestling successes. Jesse is a class act with an impeccable reputation on and off the mat," stated Hofstra head coach Tom Ryan. "We are equally thankful to the LIWA for their continued support of our great sport. This is just another example of the LIWA making a difference in our community through the sport of wrestling." "We are extremely honored and proud to assist Jesse Jantzen, along with Donny Pritzlaff, in their bid to make the 2008 Olympic team. These two wrestlers will help bring all levels of Long Island wrestling to unprecedented heights. This accomplishment could not have been done without the support of our board members, advisory committee and, most of all, our members. I personally would like to say thank you to all involved," added LIWA President, Scott Arnel. For more information on the Long Island Wrestling Association, visit www.longislandwrestling.org.
