Field set for the 12th Annual "BRUTE Beast of the East"

Newark, DE -- Oct. 2004 -- Eleven of the top twenty-five high school wrestling programs including the top four will compete in the 12th Annual  "BRUTE Beast of the East", December 18th & 19th at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center.    Blair Academy, NJ (WUSA #1) will be vying for their 5th straight team title,  the Bucs lead by Coach Jeff Buxton, will be challenged by Great Bridge, VA  (#2), St Paris Graham, OH (#3), and Brandon, FL (#4).      "We have attended The Beast of the East each year and it has evolved into  one of the toughest folkstyle tournaments in the country," said Buxton. "Each round, wrestlers have be on top of their game not over looking anyone or they will be sitting in the stands as the competition is fierce.  We have returned each year because of the competitive field as coaches we want to put our kids against some of the best kids in the nation".      The tournament will feature over 100 nationally ranked "all class" wrestlers, 200+ by class including WUSA #1 in 8 weight classes. "All proceeds benefit scholarships to our Delaware wrestlers who meet criteria in the fields of academics, sportsmanship, and community service. We have awarded over $190,000 from the proceeds of the previous 11 tournaments.  We are very proud of this in the Delaware Wrestling Alliance."
