Summary of Position:     Responsible for providing coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach. Expected to adhere to the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Head Coach.    Minimum Qualifications: Two years successful coaching experience in one or more areas of athlete development/administration/team recruitment for wrestling or superior personal performance and achievement in wrestling in combination with relevant life experiences from which coaching ability can be effectively projected. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, proven ability to recruit quality student athletes preferred." Detailed Description of Duties:     Promote the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, to include adhering to all Departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.      Assist with the scouting and recruitment of student-athletes, to include assisting with on-campus and off-campus visits of prospective student-athletes.      Assist in coaching student-athletes, to include evaluating their performance in both practice and competition, and providing leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies, as required.      Monitor the conditioning and training of student-athletes in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic training staff. Assist in the planning and administering of the off-season training program.      Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters, to include consulting with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Services, the Director of Compliance, and the Assistant Director of Compliance and other university administrators to resolve problems.      Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponent teams and assist in designing game plans and strategies. Attend coaches' preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings.      Advise and counsel student-athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and appearance.      Assist in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes, including both class and study hall attendance.      Assist in maintaining statistics, as required.      Participate in public relations activities, as approved, to include granting interviews with newspapers, radio and television media, attending press conferences and making public appearances. Consult with assigned sports information staff regarding game preparations and media relations.      Assist with planning and coordinating approved fund raising activities, as assigned.      Assist with budget preparations, as requested. Operate within approved budget allocations.      Assist with the development of schedules for practice and competition, as assigned to include interfacing with departmental administrators.      Assist in coordinating team travel arrangements, as requested. Travel with the team and monitor the conduct of student-athletes.      Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure the necessary athletic equipment is available for scheduled practices and competitive events.      Monitor the condition of equipment, request repairs or replacements as necessary.      Participate in clinics, exhibitions and camps as approved.      Represent the Department at professional, civic, charitable and alumni events, as requested.      Cooperate with all coaches and administrative staff within the intercollegiate athletics programs to enhance overall departmental operations.
