Bormet named USA Wrestling Developmental Coach of the Year

Sean Bormet of Naperville, Ill. has been named Developmental Coach of the Year by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for amateur wrestling in the United States. The award honors the top coach in the nation working with age-group wrestlers and programs.    For the past four years, Bormet has headed the Overtime School of Wrestling. He has actively educated, informed and encouraged wrestlers and parents in the state of Illinois on the importance of participating in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.    The Overtime School of Wrestling has produced 25 Junior and Cadet All-Americans since its inception in 2001.    Since 2001, Bormet has served as a coach for the Illinois Cadet and Junior freestyle national teams. Since 2002, he has held the position of head coach of the Illinois Junior freestyle national dual team.    Training camps for the Illinois Junior dual teams have been held at the Overtime School of Wrestling since 2002.    Before opening the Overtime School of Wrestling, Bormet served as an assistant coach at the Univ. of Wisconsin (1994-99) and the Univ. of Michigan (1999-2000).    Bormet has a tremendous background as a wrestler. As a youth, he was a 1991 Espoir national champion in freestyle and competed in the 1991 Espoir World Championships. Bormet was also a three-time Junior freestyle All-American, placing as high as second following his senior year of high school.    As a collegiate wrestler, Bormet earned NCAA All-American status twice while competing for the Univ. of Michigan. In 1993, he placed third at the NCAA Tournament and in 1992, he placed second.    Bormet placed second at the 1999 U.S. National Championships and third in 1999 as a Senior-level freestyle wrestler.
