Defending champion Kyler undefeated after first day of Cadet Freestyle National Championships

Fargo, N.D. - Defending Cadet freestyle national champion Matthew Kyler of Pennsylvania breezed through his first four matches at 98 lbs. on Wednesday at the FargoDome. Kyler won two matches by fall and the other two by technical superiority to stay undefeated in pool competition. Kyler is the only returning champion competing again in the Cadet freestyle division. A total of 1,193 wrestlers competed for the title of Cadet freestyle national champion on Wednesday morning and evening. Of the eligible Cadets returning this year that earned freestyle All-American status last year, 15 remain undefeated. 2004 Cadet Greco-Roman champions that remain undefeated in freestyle competition are Eric Grajales of Florida at 84 lbs., Donny Altman of Kansas at 91 lbs., Brian Owen of Washington at 98 lbs., Zachary Sanders of Minnesota at 105 lbs., Kelly Kubec of Washington at 112 lbs., Matt Vacanti of Nebraska at 119 lbs., Austin Enoch of Oregon at 130 lbs., Brandon Sitch of Washington at 140 lbs., Kaleb Young of Minnesota at 160 lbs., Patrick Flynn of Washington at 189 lbs. and Lance Wagner of Michigan at 275 lbs.
