The 2004 USA Wrestling Kids National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships have a new home at the Johnson Fieldhouse on the campus of the Univ. of Wisconsin-Stout , in Menomonie, Wis. The nation's best 9-14 year old wrestlers will be battling for national titles and All-American honors in three age-divisions: Midget (9-10), Novice (11-12) and Schoolboy/girl (13-14). This is the final event in the coveted USA Wrestling Kids Triple Crown. Each year, USA Wrestling honors athletes who are able to win national titles at their age-level in all three styles: folkstyle, Greco-Roman and freestyle. The first leg of the Triple Crown was the USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Nationals, held in Cedar Falls, Iowa in April. Winners in that event who later participated in USA Wrestling's Kids Regional s are eligible to pursue the Triple Crown this year in Menomenie. In 2003, a total of 10 athletes captured the Triple Crown. Since the award was created in 1997, there have been 57 Triple Crown awards given. The most in one year was in 2000, when 11 athletes captured the honor. The least was in 1997, when just two athletes were able to come away with the coveted award. The most successful wrestler in USA Wrestling Kids history since the Triple Crown was created is Riley Adamson of New Mexico, who has won the honor five straight times. He has two Triple Crowns as a Midget and as a Novice, and captured a Schoolboy Triple Crown last year. Adamson comes into the event this year with a chance at Triple Crown No. 6, as he was the 90-pound Schoolboy champion at the Kids Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa this year. If Adamson wins both events in Menomonie, he will have swept the Kids Triple Crown in all six years that he was eligible. To compare, no other wrestler has won the Kids Triple Crown more than twice. Other wrestlers who won Kids Triple Crowns last year included Midget wrestler John Sims of Indiana, Novice wrestlers Sharky Slyter of Kansas, Ben Morgan of Oklahoma, Shane Thomas of Oklahoma, Jeff Olsen of Georgia and Mark Myers of Indiana plus Schoolboy wrestlers Shane Nay of Missouri, Deron Winn of Missouri and Matthew Campos of California. In addition to Adamson, 2003 Triple Crown winners Slyter and Morgan were champions at the 2004 Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls and remain eligible to win the Triple Crown again. All of the athletes who are entered in the competition must have participated in their USA Wrestling Kids Regional event. The six USA Wrestling Regionals are the Northeast, Southeast, Central, Northern Plains, Southern Plains and West, and were held earlier this spring. The Kids Greco-Roman Nationals will be held Weds. June 30 and Thursday, July 1. The Kids Freestyle Nationals are set for Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3. 2004 KIDS FOLKSTYLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS (eligible for Triple Crown) Midget 50 - Noah Teaney (MO) 55 - Thomas Gillman (IA) 60 - Bo Pursel (KS) 65 - Brandon Sorenson (IA) 70 - Dylan Detert (WI) 75 - Oliver Pierce (TX) 80 - Derek Jenkins (IA) 87 - Tyler Price (IL) 95 - Patrick Eldred (MI) 103 - Glenn Climmons (GA) 112 - Alexandere Lennartson (WI) 120 - Chris Schleuger (IA) 120+ - Alex Johnson (MN) Novice 60 - Cody Brewer (MO) 65 - Hunter Steiber (OH) 70 - Jordan Rinken (IA) 75 - RaVaughn Perkins (NE) 80 - Blake Sorenson (IA) 85 - Ben Morgan (OK) 90 - Ethan Davis (MO) 95 - Nick Moore (IA) 100 - Spencer Be Lieu (IA) 105 - Garrett Bonte (WI) 112 - Zachary Smith (IL) 120 - Masen Ridenhouer (MO) 130 - Dustin Williams (MO) 140 - Andrew Nodvedt (IA) HWT1 - Brett Jaeckel (TN) HWT2 - Michael Chastain (MO) HWT3 - Aaron Henry (MO) Schoolboy 70 - Sharky Sluyter (KS) 75 - Max Nowry (IL) 80 - Andrew Williams (VA) 85 - Nicholas Lester (MO) 90 - Riley Adamson (NM) 95 - Nate Moore (IA) 100 - Justin Armstrong (TX) 105 - Torrey Stewart (MN) 110 - Alex Meade (DE) 115 - Joshua Wiseman (MN) 120 - Zac Bennett (PA) 125 - Grant Gambrall (IA) 130 - Josh Roosa (PA) 145 - Jordan Walsh (MD) 165 - Hunter Collins (CA) 185 - Atticus Disney (KS) 205 - Jerod Glasgow (MO) 225 - Sam Miller; 250 - Anthony Barrios (IL) 2003 KIDS NATIONAL FREESTYLE AND GRECO-ROMAN CHAMPIONS Midget Freestyle 50 - Steven Hopkins (WA) 55 - Jack Hathaway (IA) 60 - Sean Edmondson (PA) 65 - Casey George (ID) 70 - Jake Dallaserra (MT) 75 - Jason Luster (GA) 80 - Dylan Penka (KS) 87 - John Sims (IN) 95 - Glen Climmons (GA) 103 - Tanner Hall (ID) 112 - Ethan Hayes (IN) 120 - Tucker Whitley (MI) 120+ - 1st - Max McLain (FL) Midget Greco-Roman 55 - Kevin Norstrem (FL) 60 - Sean Edmondson (PA) 65 - Shane Thomas (OK) 70 - Duke Pickett (CO) 75 - Austin Gabel (CO) 80 - Dylan Penka (KS) 87 - John Sims (IN) 95 - Jordan Gruettner (WI) 103 - Frankie Herrera (CA) 112 - Jordan Olgin (CA) 120 - Tucker Whitley (MI) Novice Freestyle 60 - Daniel DeShazer (KS) 65 - Sharky Slyter (KS) 70 - Jesse Delgado (CA) 75 - Ben Morgan (OK) 80 - Riley Ewalt (MI) 85 - Denzel Hawkins (CA) 90 - Shawn Thomas (OK) 95 - Dakota Lee (AZ) 100 - Jeff Olsen (GA) 105 - Mark Myers (IN) 112 - Aaron Pavlenko (AZ) 120 - Sterling Hecox (IL) 130 - Brendan Eichmann (MN) 140 - Joe McElhinney (PA) 165 - Trevor McDonald (AK) 194 - Antonio Hernandez (CA) Novice Greco-Roman 60 - Cody Brewer (MO) 65 - Sharky Slyter (KS) 70 - Kent Williams (ND) 75 - Ben Morgan (OK) 80 - Riley Ewalt (MI) 85 - Brock Gutches (OR) 90 - Shawn Thomas (OK) 95 - Tyler Lehmann (ND) 100 - Jeff Olsen (GA) 105 - Mark Myers (IN) 112 - Aaron Pavlenko (AZ) 120 - David Rios (CA) 130 - Brendan Eichmann (MN) 140 - Joe McElhinney (PA) 161 - Ross Janney (IN) 194 - Antonio Hernandez (CA) Schoolboy/girl Freestyle 70 - Ladd Rupp (OK) 75 - Andy Pokorny (NE) 80 - Eric Grajales (FL) 85 - Riley Adamson (NM) 90 - Dak Adamson (NM) 95 - Dallas Bailey (OK) 100 - Alex Meade (DE) 105 - Johnny Koepp (TX) 110 - Hollan Gravley (AK) 115 - Marshall Koethe (IA) 120 - Matt Moore (PA) 125 - Shane Nay (MO) 130 - Derek Ward (OK) 140 - Jermiah Maggart (IN) 150 - Torrey Line (MN) 160 - Deron Winn (MO) 160+ - Elijah Madison (KS) 160++ - Sam Brownlee (PA) 160+++ - Blaine Hjelm (MN) 160++++ - Matthew Campos (CA) Schoolboy/girl Greco-Roman 70 - Ladd Rupp (OK) 75 - Bryan Pearsall (PA) 80 - Eric Grajales (FL) 85 - Riley Adamson (NM) 90 - Dak Adamson (NM) 95 - Matt Gille (WI) 100 - Travis Rutt (MN) 105 - Matt Noblet (KS) 110 - Hollan Gravley (AK) 115 - Quinton Cottle (NE) 120 - Matt Moore (PA) 125 - Shane Nay (MO) 130 - George Bancroft (NC) 140 - Brandon Tressler (FL) 150 - Torrey Line (MN) 160 - Deron Winn (MO) 160+ - Elijah Madison (KS) 160++ - Richard Lopez (OK) 160+++ - Blaine Hjelm (MN) 160++++ - Matthew Campos (CA) PAST USA WRESTLING KIDS TRIPLE CROWN WINNERS 1997 Jon Dahl of Minnesota (Midget 100) Beau DeArmon of Oklahoma (Schoolboy 100) 1998 Riley Jo Lindner of Iowa (Midget 100) Anthony Morales of Nevada(Midget 120) Mark Friend of Illinois (Novice 90) Alex Cornette of Wisconsin (Novice 165+) C.P.
